About Us

Who we are?

North Devon Travel Clinic was founded in 2019 by local husband and wife team Kelvyn Evans and Gemma Heard. We noted that GP surgeries are increasingly not providing travel health services and that our population has been having to travel to Exeter or further afield.  We wanted to set up a friendly, knowledgeable local clinic to serve our population here in North Devon.

After moving to the locality in 2009, Kelvyn has been running his own podiatry business from the Tarka Clinic and more recently has become the proprietor of the Tarka Clinic as well.  Gemma is a local GP in her current practice since 2012 and has been a practicing doctor since 2003.  Kelvyn is the manager of the clinic, whilst Gemma has the clinical expertise and a love of travel.

The Tarka Clinic is a well-established allied healthcare clinic in the centre of Barnstaple.  It is situated on Paige’s Lane (behind M&S). There is ample pay and display parking nearby.  It is fully accessible with level access for wheelchairs and has a disabled toilet.

General advice regarding appointments

  • Please try and ensure you leave plenty of time before your planned trip to assess your health needs.

  • Many vaccinations require a course of a number of doses for full coverage and although there may be a chance of having an accelerated schedule if you are short of time the sooner you plan at this element of your trip the better.
